About our Council
Knights of Columbus, Fr. William P. O’Reilley Council # 4967, North St. Paul, MN who meets at St Peter’s Parish. The council was instituted on May 18, 1960 and named in honor of Fr. William P. O’Reilley, long-time pastor at St. Peter’s from 1915-1960. We are a lay, Catholic, family, fraternal, and service organization. Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to all practical Catholic men in communion with the Holy See, age eighteen and above. The term practical Catholic means that a person accepts and abides by the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Catholic church. The Order of the Knights of Columbus is based on the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism dedicated to serving the Church.
Here is a brief overview of the Knights of Columbus and reasons why you would want to be a part of this great organization.
We Are An Organization Like No Other.
We are an organization of dedicated individuals nearly 2 million members strong, that, since 1882, has embodied the selflessness of man as it has helped overcome the problems of the world. Poverty, Ignorance, Apathy- Things which imperil not only a single individual, but the whole of humanity. We are men of faith, comprising over 13,000 Knights of Columbus councils at home and overseas. Guided not only by our belief in God and the Catholic Church, but by our belief in each other, and in ourselves. We are the Knights of Columbus. We believe that men are defined by their actions as followers of God, and as leaders in their community.
